Who is Mandy?
My name is Mandy Hortin, I was born in Logan Utah but I have lived in the Sandy for the majority of my life. I am a student at the University of Utah and I am days away from a December 2013 graduation. My major is a Bachelor degree of science in Parks Recreation and Tourism with an emphasis in Commercial Recreation Management. During my educational journey I found that commercial recreation provided a variety of opportunities including a stronger business emphasis which throughout my education I found myself very excited to learn about.
I recently started a job with Salt Lake Community Action program as a liaison for the County Housing Authority. I was completing my large internship at SLCAP/Five Parks in afterschool programming when my supervisor referred me to the position; I interviewed and got the job! I know that the position I am working in is not exactly related to commercial recreation but I have found that I am doing work that is helping to prevent homelessness and also help bring people out of homelessness. This work is meaningful and I already enjoy what I do, I feel confident that my education in PRT will come to play in different ways that I cannot even imagine.
The following portfolio contains past college work and other experiences which have brought me to my December 2013 graduation.
Enjoy!
